Dreamland Metaverse offers Vivox Voice

Dreamland Metaverse is happy to announce, that with the new year we offer Vivox voice as an option for our customers. New and existing customers can request Vivox voice for their OpenSim regions and grids. There are no additional costs for our customers using this basic Vivox voice option.

Features supported by Vivox voice:

• Public voice chat (two or more participants)
• Private voice chat (two or more participants)
• Spacial sound (volume attenuation based on distance)
• Push-to-Talk
• Individual volume
• Mute controls
• Speaker indication (who has voice and who is currently speaking)
• Lip sync and voice gestures (viewer functionality)
• No premium voice features (moderator functions, voice morphing, etc.)

Be aware, that there is no service level guarantee for this free Vivox voice service. There is no guarantee for the functionality, capacity and availability of this service. If this does not fulfil your requirements, for example for corporate or educational use, please contact us.

Vivox voice is the third voice system we support. We were the first hosting provider offering Freeswitch and Mumble voice, which we continue to offer.

Vivox voice has the advantage, that it works with all Second Life® based viewer without requiring any modification, because Second Life® also uses Vivox voice. It offers good voice quality and all important voice features (speaker indication, spacial sound, etc.).

Mumble also offers good voice quality and the most important features (speaker indication, lip sync and voice gestures), but it requires the installation of a special voice plugin on top of the viewer. Beside that just Windows is currently supported and not Mac or Linux.

Freeswitch does not require a voice plugin, like Vivox, but voice quality is limited and just very basic voice functionality is supported (no speaker indication, no spacial sound, etc).
